Boat Blueprints

Found rolled up in an old auction house, these treasures turned out to be some of the nicest blueprints depicting the classic steam and sailing vessels that sailed our seas in the days of sea travel. NC has collated these originals into a collection of 9 and presented them with our classic hand-aged look. We have designed frames specifically for this collection, using a natural wood that has been rubbed, aged and sanded down to the black finish- exposing the natural wood below.

Gallicus Book of Secrets

The Book of Secrets was published in 1717 in Germany. It became one of the earliest compendiums of the esoteric arts including: chiromancy, metoscopy, astrology, astronomy, and onomantia. It is one of the most interesting collections ever purchased.

Hoefer Calligraphy

Laurent Jerome's Stamps

Christopher originally purchased a collection of rare travel stamps from a collector in Poland. We then selected a pair that were the most unusual and have framed them in acrylic. There is a timeless feel to these where one cannot help but wonder where these stamps travelled to and from.

Lord Lytton

This is a collection that Christopher is very excited about finding and introducing into the Natural Curiosities line. The art of writing has been lost with the introduction of technology, yet it is an art that has made empires, broken hearts, and forged contracts. This collection reveals an unusual art form that has been lost over the last 250 years. In 1780, a trend started in Europe of creating ornate images with an ink pen whereby the ink would land on the page and not lift off the page until the creation had been completed. It is an example of creative writing as an exquisite art form, and Natural Curiosities hopes to revive appreciation for this lost art.

Matrimonial Programme

Purchased in auction, this is an unusual collection that was published in 1894 and originally used as a small handbook to “keep all the lessons in life in your pocket!” NC has taken these whimsical and amusing emotions and created a set of 14. They can, in fact, be pushed into two collections, the first being: “Look before you leap!”, and the second: “All’s well that ends well!” We prefer to not restrict the compilations for people and instead believe that life is full of surprises, which is part of life’s rich tapestry!

Nuvero Portraits Collection

This is a unique set of 6 charcoal drawings presenting different people in varying poses, each of them drawn with meticulous skill to showcase movement and detail. This is certainly one of the most exciting collections that we are introducing.

Pomero's Calligraphy Collection

As part of our fascination with pen & ink and calligraphy, this extraordinary pair of hand-drawn ornate birds represent the true style & skill of penmanship. We believe these to be circa 1907.

Quetelet's Caricature Panels

This series of sketches is from renowned caricature artist Isaquere Quetelet's own personal collection dating back to 1881. NC purchased this collection at auction in London.

Quetelet's Caricature Series

This series of sketches is from renowned caricature artist, Isaquere Quetelet's own personal collection dating 1881. Natural Curiosities purchased this collection at auction in London.

Quetelet's Landscape Panels

This series of sketches is from renowned caricature artist, Isaquere Quetelet's own personal collection dating 1881. Natural Curiosities purchased this collection at auction in London.

Louis Francisco's Dogs

In our pursuit to find a collection of dogs that works for all designers/collectors, this is the first series that we feel covers the mood and style of what living with a dog really means. The collection was bought in Paris and comes from an 1896 lithograph print collection showing the many poses of dogs.

Dali Ink

Parisian Pen & Ink Florals

Pen and ink sketches fit into the clean sophisticated mood that is now very much in place. These two pieces were selected from an 1884 pen & ink sketch book that was drawn by a French caricature artist.
