Arnaldi Herbs

The images which inspired this collection were originally found in Sweden. They were educational herbariums which were used as references for students on the different sections and systems in Fauna. We are giving them a new direction by showing  them a size that really lets the viewer see the details. In addition, our application artists have leafed the text, giving new life to the pieces.

Hubbard Flowers

These images come from our large collection of Hubbard flowers. Born in the English city or Birmingham, Charles Edward Hubbard dedicated his life to studying natural history by intent to illustrate every flower that came from the ground. At 18, he went to work in the industrial factories, causing him to develop bronchitis and become homebound by his early 30’s. At this time, Hubbard began his work on thousands carefully drawn and catalogued studies.

Tiller Stems

The Tiller Stems come from German educational references made in 1924. We are astounded by the beautiful symmetry exposed when you look closely at organic forms. It is these natural patterns that keep us connected and grounded to the world and one another.

Berula Charcoal Collection

As part of our deconstruction movement, we are re-introducing these Berula leaves, but are interpreting them in a very naturalistic and clean manner. The microscopic element to these represents a trend of "seeing through" the elements.

Cannabis Seeds

Cannabis is a plant that provides much conversation and one that is respected in our world for being a catalyst for creativity.  The history of the plant is fascinating and it is one of the most controversial plants on the planet.  A voracious grower, it is known world-wide, medicinally, for being a relaxant and a pain reliever.  For this reason we believe this plant should be celebrated and revered.  These images were discovered in 1954 as part of a herbarium from Sweden.  These pieces are aged, deckled, and floated on linen.

Copernicus Pansies

This is a set of 3 incredibly strong flower illustrations that were taken from a collection purchased in auction. The original images were published in 1884. The beautiful colors and strength of putting the heads in such a grand size make these a perfect collection for any environment.

DiCapri Flowers

In this collection, Natural Curiosities embraces the Post-impressionist movement and creates the DiCapri Flower Collection. The stunning imagery highlights the simplistic beauty that unfolds from a flower’s bloom, while exuding a Gauguin-esque complexity.

Edward Lawrence Crocus

Pushing the boundaries in expressing the beauty of flowers, Christopher has introduced a pair of Crocus that were part of an early herbarium.  The sizes that these are now exhibited lends a real power to the beauty of these plants.

Sowerby Botanicals

This stunning variety of images are taken from a collection by James Sowerby (March 21, 1757 - October 25, 1822). An English naturalist and illustrator, Sowerby contributed to such works as A Specimen of the Botany of New Holland or English Botany. The use of vivid colour and accessible texts were intended to reach a widening audience in the works of natural history.

Taccani Espalier Collection

This is one of the best collections that NC has acquired. The collection is callled "A Treatise on the Culture and Management of Fruit Trees" and is the first collection to illustrate the notion of Espalier, which has become so fashionable today.

Elliotiana Watercolor Lilies Collection

Taken from an early watercolor botanical collection collected and documented from 1874, we have selected these lillies for the color and unusual selection of species which provide a much more modern feel than the normal traditional botanical image.
