Lecare Seahorses

Seahorses as a subject and image have always been very hard to find. This pair was found in a collection that was bought in auction in Europe that was showing a series of ceramic designs that were originally intended for the Formaintraux factory in France.

Lord Bodner

The octopus is everything for NC. It represents everything "curious" about what we do as a company. We have introduced a number of octopus images over the last few years, and Lord Bodner is the newest addition to our continued fascination of the octopus. The detail of the image is the finest that we have found. The original is a copperplate engraving by Lord Bodner and was published in 1826 in London as part of a series studying creatures of the deep.

Nile Voyage Turtle

This pair was taken from "La Voyage Aux Sources du Nile" by James Bruce in 1768. Bruce was a Scottish explorer who travelled down the Nile River, studying and sketching all forms of life he encountered. These illustrations are one of the earliest known of turtles.

Octavio Octopus

This amazing octopus has been taken from an early collection that was published in 1686 by a French naturalist, Bernard Direxit. The collection was originally put together to further the knowledge of conchology and other marine life.

Rumana X-Ray Seahorses

This pair of x-ray seahorses has been created by scanning the skeleton of an actual seahorse, which gives a unique perspective on these beautiful creatures.

Modern Sealife Collection

This collection has been curated from a very interesting series published in London in the early 1900s showcasing the contemporary nature of sea life. The collection still holds up today as modern images enjoyed in modern settings.
