Capistrano Seaweeds
These seaweeds were originally taken from a collection published by William Harvey in 1903. It was a work that was created to further the understanding of different species of seaweeds that surrounded the English islands.

Jean Baptiste Geometrics
These geometric studies, dated to 1896, were originally educational plates designed to explain the role of geometry in science. We have framed them in acrylic, combining a vintage piece with a modern concept.

Nile Voyage Turtles
This illustration was taken from La Voyage Aux Sources du Nile by James Bruce in 1768. Bruce was a Scottish explorer who travelled down the Nile River, studying and sketching all forms of life he encountered. This illustration is one of the earliest known of turtles.

Falling Feathers
To capture the aetherial beauty of our golden, falling feathers, our team of artists begin by painting each bird feather gold. We literally drop the feathers onto their linen bed to preserve an authentic movement and quality to its nature.

Poppies by Paule Marrot
Natural Curiosities recently acquired the beautiful textile archives of French engraver, painter, and textile artist Paule Marrot (1902-1987). Her bold use of flowers, color and patterns reflect a compositionally modernist style classically associated with the Art Deco movement.

Moss and Lichen Landscapes
We are again bringing the outdoors in. Our fields of moss reflect our dedication to a lifestyle embracing the theme of the Conservatory. Each field of Sphagnum, Spanish, and Mood moss is bedded on an earthen-stained palette of wood.

Lord Bodner Triptych in Grey
The octopus is everything for Natural Curiosities. It represents everything "curious" about what we do as a company. We have introduced a number of octopus images over the last few years, and Lord Bodner's triptych is the newest addition to our continued fascination of the octopus. The detail of the image is the finest that we have found. The original is a copperplate engraving by Lord Bodner and was published in 1826 in London as part of a series studying creatures of the deep.

The Huntzinger Abstracts
The Huntzinger Abstracts Collection is a study in abstract form. The images have been silkscreened onto a wood panel that was goldleafed by hand. The black line creates a beautiful minimalist shape on the field of gold.

Cooking the Books
In a time of economic upheaval, one of our statement application pieces reflects on this simple expression of “cooking the books.” Each book has been worn in its pages, dipped in an aging elixir, and left to “cook” in the Los Angeles sunshine.

The Hyden Horses: Blonde
Eagerly awaited, this is our new horse collection that we have been looking for for over 3 years. Every photograph represents the power and magic of these amazing animals. Christopher has partnered with a photographic artist who has been shooting these horses for over 20 years and it's the first time these have been seen.

The Whole Art of Forming A Flower Garden
Due to the success of the Theodore Garden Mazes that Natural Curiosities brought out in 2007, Christopher has been fortunate enough to find another exquisite collection to do with forming the early flower garden designs. These collections are extrememly hard to find, yet important because of their historical relevance and the importance of creating and designing landscapes for the home.

Tylinek Zebra
Use animal prints the way they appear in the wild: surrounded by natural colors, such as taupe and brown. Include modern interpretations (like the pillows on the ottoman) to light the mood, and work in lots of texture for coziness. Subtle furniture tones down the glamour, and a bit of sweeping greenery feels both exotic and inviting. Tylinek Zebra.

Noah's Ark, Hand-Watercolored
Our resident artists have rendered a new life to this depiction of Noah's Ark, originally published in the Netherlands in 1718. Each animal on every Noah's Ark print is hand-painted using our earthy mixed palette of pine needle, golden rod, soaked stone, root, clay, and badger brown. Because each color is mixed and painted in our studio, every print is unique.

Love Letters Collection
This collection is an ever changing message of love to be created by anyone and everyone in our attempt to not only make art, but to involve the buyer in the process. Using our alphabet, numbers, punctuation marks and heart in either of our two colors, you can create any statement that you like. It’s romantic message is endless.
We created the font by drawing with shoe polish, and layering the individual letters over vintage love letters, which are then printed on acid-free paper.
The Abstract Paper Collection
This is a fabulous collection where art and paper really do weave into one. Each sheet is made from a combination of raw materials that include mulberry, pineapple, and banana fibers, with much of the material culled from agricultural waste, so they are eco-friendly and sustainable too. These pieces are floated on linen.

The Caspari Horse Triptych
This piece was inspired by an old photograph that was originally purchased in auction in England. The photograph depicts an aristocratic lady standing by her champion horse in 1904. To put it into a more contemporary setting, we have put the horse into a triptych, deckled and floated on linen, and set into a brushed silver shadowbox.

The Book Spines
We are still in an Age of Discovery. Continuing our fascination with Books, this is an introduction to the concept of capturing a library for your wall. Not every house may have a library but this represents the idea of collecting perhaps in a more modern manner. We have selected eight books from our library, which remind us to see the world as emerging and developing rather than already discovered. We will be adding to this collection as rediscover new titles that inspire us.

The Helford Horse Diptych in Gold Leaf
Our newest debut to our “Solid Gold” series is the Helford Horse. Originally taken from the Lord Helford Collection, we have revisited the piece, focusing on the front and back perspectives and applying gold leaf to the entire horse image. We then silkscreen on top of the gold leaf, accentuating the movement and lines on the body.

White Sand Dollars
In our wish to continually break new ground, Natural Curiosities strives to create application art here in America using the skilled hands of our own in-house artists to create the beautiful and delicate celebrations of nature’s specimens. In this case we are using hand-selected white, natural sand dollars to create a remarkable design, which becomes so beautiful when combined with others to create abstract patterns.
